Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among BRICS nations during his address at the recent summit. He articulated a vision for the Global South, urging leaders to collaborate on a five-point initiative aimed at enhancing trade, manufacturing, investment, and technology cooperation.
In his remarks, Xi likened a world without rules to a chaotic intersection devoid of traffic lights, underscoring the necessity for fairness and justice in international relations. He called for the Global South to collectively uphold the rule of law, emphasizing that all nations, regardless of size or wealth, should be treated as equals on the global stage.
Xi’s initiative includes the establishment of an inclusive artificial intelligence framework, the creation of a BRICS special economic zone partnership, and the development of a digital ecosystem cloud platform. He also highlighted the need for expanded cooperation in intelligent manufacturing and proposed the formation of a BRICS engineer cultivation alliance to foster talent in science and technology.
By advocating for these measures, Xi aims to strengthen ties among emerging markets and ensure that the voices of developing countries are heard in international affairs. His call for reform in the international financial architecture further reflects a commitment to increasing representation for the Global South in global governance.
